Here is a list of useful links to info on Universal Credit (UC) – both for advisers and for people who are more interested in the social policy of UC than the technical details.
The best social policy briefings that are free and in the public domain include the ones prepared for MPs and placed in the House of Commons Library. They are accurate and tell it like it is – not like the DWP info (below) which tends to ignore the bad bits.
The latest social policy briefing is Universal Credit roll-out: Autumn/Winter 2017 (published 15 November 2017), which includes an up-to-date summary at the start.
The best free info on the web includes the Disability Rights UK Factsheet on Universal Credit at www.disabilityrightsuk.org/universal-credit-uc
There are guides by leading charities at
as well as by Citizens Advice, of course, and www.cpag.org.uk, which has a useful section called Ask CPAG Online that includes various UC topics like avoiding and challenging universal credit sanctions
The DWP info (but obviously with the bad bits taken out) is at www.gov.uk/universal-credit
www.revenuebenefits.org.uk/universal-credit includes links to Regs and DWP ADM Guidance
www.rightsnet.org.uk/forums is a discussion forum for advisers
